all I know about her is she drives a green golf convertible she visits my neighbour I hear them laugh as my door pulls too I walk by their window catch a glimpse-turn my head away I'm too shy to stand there (and) brazenly pass the time of day but I know I should stand up and tell her how I feel though how can I explain-this sentiment is real I wanna- walk with her, talk with her I wanna-hold her close and never let her go I wanna-walk a while - see her smile I wanna - hold her tight and not let go. I've seen her a few times dressed in jeans - dressed in clinging black hair long and smiling, hope one day she will smile right back and I can stand firm and tell her how I feel though how can I explain the sentiment is real I wanna.....................

This Time 03:02
mulling over empty days of the week trying to make some sense out of all that defeats wondering just what it feels like to cheat circumstance - must it always drag you down and out of your depth when I cant be around you hold me responsible for holding you down as I cant seem to lift you up this time dreams now lay shattered at your feet or so it seems to one in receipt of information so far incomplete and your faith seems to slip away this time comes a point in each of our lives we must face up to changes and not be broken by an ill wind that blasts us fracturing chances a foul deed that alters the circumstances of life. and your faith seems to slip away this time as I cant seem to lift you up this time

Say Goodbye 03:28
I never really thought you'd do one of those things you always threatened to but i was left in the dark, no longer your sole confidante. I only did as you asked and left you alone to sort it out. how was I to know the seed of doubt implanted itself the night before? and it seems that now you want to say goodbye to me - to set me free it seems that now you have to go. I'm sorry that I wasn't there in your obvious time of need, it seems obvious to me - you'd have telephoned if you'd wanted me to be there. preferring the company of strangers to your supposedly true best friend. I feel so hurt inside - to be denied. I'm the one who really loves you. and it seems that now you want to say goodbye to me - set yourself free it seems that now you have to go. so many nights - waiting by the telephone so many days - running around for you so many ways - feeling like I've been mis-used. now no more - wasting by the telephone now no more - racing after you now it's time - to do exactly how I choose and I choose that I dont want to say goodbye to you - my love it's true I never ever want to see you go. though it seems you still want to say goodbye to me - to be set free. it seems you're really going to go. say goodbye, say goodbye, say goodbye.

Five Years 03:41
in a matter of days five years will have flown by what will we have gained with the passing of those days swiftly slipping into weeks that accelerate into months of tangled memories the sorrows left unsung five years - in which we loved a lot five years - we laughed and cried a lot five years five years thanks a lot for the past five years. we've had our differences we seem to have pulled through. wonder what tomorrow brings the thrill of the new? five years - that we loved a lot five years - we laughed and cried a lot five years five years thanks a lot for the last five years.

Absence 03:38
you said you felt lonely even when I weas around. sometimes you never spoke at all, sat staring at the ground. you said, though never told me, you felt I'd let you down, through it all i tried to lay to rest the doubt I felt inside. it's said that absence makes the heart grow fonder. I've found that absence makes that heart a wanderer. it's written on these city streets, the pavements that you pound, who you can find will just have to do when the one you want cannot be found. " I'd hoped we'd have drifted apart with the passing of the weeks" - your words cut me to the bone causing me to weep for the love now surely lost and no matter what the cost the flame could never be re-kindled, the fire's been doused by the tears inside. it's said that absence makes the heart grow fonder. I've found that absence makes that heart a wanderer. it's written on these city streets, the pavements that you pound, who you can find will just have to do when the one you want is never around. it's written on those subway walls, carved on seats in shopping malls "absence makes the heart grow..." it's written on those subway walls, carved on seats in shopping malls it says....... that absence makes the heart grow fonder. I've found that absence makes that heart a wanderer. it's written on these city streets, the pavements that you pound, who you can find will just have to do when the one you want cannot be found. who you can find will just have to do when the one you want is never around

No Goodbyes 03:41
cold morning, mist on the sea still enjoying your company sharing the night in your car watched the waves and searched for stars my eyes, hungry for sleep, long for rest but still want to keep this moment and how I feel so incredible- yet so real. we talked through the wind and the rain. I wonder if we will meet again? hope you dont find australia too hard and dont forget to send me a card. although we've only known each other for a matter of days i'm going to miss you when we part but i'll remember the night we spent together and there must be no goodbyes. your letter came as a surprise. a ray of sunshine through cloudy skies. vague hints of our lost chance, special lines that made my heart dance. funny that his friendship we share only started because you cut my hair and that as I closed your car door I somehow wish we had met weeks before. I don't suppose hat I will see you for a couple of years. i will keep a place for you in my heart but this thought does have one consolation, there can be no goodbyes no goodbyes - I recall narrow winding lanes in the morning smiling at the thought of what we had just shared. no goodbyes - I say hello to your photograph. it's good to know someone out there cares.

Show me 02:51

I passed her in the street today. she smiled in such an inviting way. hair long and dark with just a hint of red and as she passed by my heart did sigh. I now know where she spends her days and I pass by her window - so many ways go through my head to break the ice and speak with her alone - I cant even phone cause I dont even know her name let alone her number and if you see her you'll know why I need her to need me just the same. I passed her in the town tonight before my eyes such a gorgeous sight. oh I'd love to know just how she spends her nights and if alone - wanting someone to phone? but I dont even know her name let alone her number and if you see her you'll know why I need her to need me just the same. need to know her name got to get her number got to see her tell her I need her to need me just the same.

all of the boys playing with their toys racing in cars from bar to bar. all little girls looking for pearls follow their star from bar to car. each and every saturday the same courtship ritual. "like a drink, would you like to dance - love to take you home with me, maybe watch a little late night tv?" all the grown men, snug in their den discussing their darts and private parts. oh little women - heads in a spin hope their mills and boon lover will come soon. each and every day the same disillusioned ritual. feed the cats, feed the kids, feed themselves with fantasy absorbing all that plasticised tv. and resume that age old courtship ritual. "first a drink, then a dance then I'll take you home with me, maybe we'll switch off the late night tv?"

Eternal Game 04:33
another day, another dime. a dollar bill drops to the floor. another lonely wasted life terminates behind closed doors. some things never change they simply re-arrange the picture sin the frame. no sunshine - always rain. no respite from the pain of the eternal game. another heart beats much too fast for a love that will never last. if we reach three score and ten happy ever after - well what then? something's got to change. wouldn't life be strange to never love again, to never feel such pain. for all of us to gain in the eternal game. my friend tries to tell me of the beauty that she's found. she tells me "it's easy, just open up and let him in" some things never change no matter what's attained the colour always fades when beckons cold the grave, still waiting to be saved from the eternal game. oh lord it's got to change and those that still remain through faith will they attain the grace to love again? oh long may it reign in the eternal game. oh long may it reign. long may love reign. it's the eternal game.

about

Exhaust The Moment is a collection of recordings from the distant to recent past. Complete with imperfections, the recordings capture the moment, the essence of the song.

The title inspiration comes from the 1949 book of poetry "Annie Allen" by Gwendolyn Brooks

"Exhaust the little moment

soon it dies.

And be it gash or gold

it will not come

again in this identical

disguise."
